A Second Chance at Life: Mama Grace’s Story
At the Domhene Foundation, we believe that good health should never be a privilege — it’s a right that everyone deserves.
Through our Free Health Screening Program, we’ve seen first-hand how early detection can save lives. One of the most inspiring stories to come out of this initiative is that of Mama Grace, a strong and joyful woman whose life took a remarkable turn thanks to a simple but timely screening.
The Discovery That Changed Everything
When Mama Grace walked into one of our free community health screenings, she had no idea that her life was about to change. Like many others, she came out of curiosity — encouraged by neighbours who had benefited from previous outreach programs. During the check-up, our medical volunteers noticed some worrying signs and referred her for further examination.
The results revealed a critical health condition that required immediate attention. Fortunately, because it was detected early, doctors were able to intervene before it became life-threatening. Today, Mama Grace is not only healthy but also an active advocate for regular health check-ups within her community.
Why Early Detection Matters
In many underserved communities, people often wait until symptoms become unbearable before seeking help — sometimes when it’s already too late. Our Free Health Screening Program bridges this gap by bringing healthcare directly to those who need it most. Through regular screenings, we’ve been able to identify hypertension, diabetes, heart disease, and other hidden conditions in hundreds of individuals — giving them a second chance at life, just like Mama Grace.
A Community United for Better Health
The success of this initiative is made possible through the collaboration of healthcare professionals, volunteers, and generous donors who believe in our mission. Every test, every consultation, and every smile of relief reminds us why we do what we do.
At the Domhene Foundation, our goal goes beyond treating illness — we aim to promote a culture of preventive healthcare and empower individuals to take charge of their well-being
